Why Inclusion?
Because life is too short to be in an organisation or role that makes you feel less than. People spend more time at work than with loved ones, and they deserve to be their whole selves. I want to help that come true!
Why Inclusive North?
Ellen set up Inclusive North because they thought northern warmth was missing on the inclusion ‘market’. Especially when fear is bring spread far and wide on this topic, some northern charm can help reduce that fear with humour and heart. Ellen was also desperate to move inclusion away from corporate jargon!
What can Ellen offer?
Ellen has worked in Inclusion for 10 years across all organisations and sectors. Both as inhouse Inclusion lead but also as an external consultant, Ellen is more than just a consultant, Ellen is a critical friend, constructive supporter, and a neutral presence who bridges gaps and connects the disconnected. Career
Ellen began working in inclusion before it was widely recognised as a career. Starting in student politics, they served as a representative locally and nationally, leading to their first role in higher education during the early days of inclusion initiatives. Ellen then moved into the private sector, gaining experience at Yorkshire Building Society and as a consultant for a leading inclusion firm. Along the way, they developed expertise in policy reviews, strategy writing, and delivering tailored training to audiences worldwide.
Identity
Ellen came out as LGBTQ+ in their teens and embraced their non-binary identity during the Covid pandemic. Their lifelong tendency to challenge norms through clothing, behavior, and hobbies now makes perfect sense. Growing up Queer wasn’t easy and sometimes still isn’t, which is why Ellen brings care and vulnerability to their work, fostering genuine connections with others.

Ellen is a proud Northerner, born and raised in North Yorkshire and now living in West Yorkshire. Yes, Ellen did attend university down south—but we’ll let that slide!
